Farm Country – Countryside Strawberry Rhubarb Kettle Sour

Overview

Farm Country – Countryside Strawberry Rhubarb Kettle Sour Review

Langley’s Farm Country Brewing opened just before Christmas last year, on the same Saturday that fellow Langley brewery Camp Beer Co. staged a soft opening. With a lineup out the door all day, it was clear that Langley City was ready for the craft beer movement.

Brewer Jack Bensley, a veteran of Russell Brewing and Main Street Brewing, knows how to make a solid beer. But this fruity sour falls outside of the range of ales we know him for best. Let’s find out how it goes down.

Our sample poured pale gold with pinkish/red tinge and a slight haze. This wheated beer was well carbonated but with a modest head and retention.

The aroma was acetic with strawberries. On the palate it was pleasantly tart and acetic. This beer’s flavour was tart and fruity with rhubarb accents, but more subtle than most fruit sours.

Referring to the can: the packaging indicates that the aim here is for a light, mild and fresh beer. We felt it was definitely drinkable. However, if you’re looking for a bold sour fruit experience, you’ll want something else. This is a refresher for sipping on the patio on a nice summer day.
