Bones Brewing : Liquid State Imperial Sour

Overview

Bones Brewing : Liquid State Imperial Sour Review

Get your vitamins! With loads of raspberries, blueberries and passion fruit, this tart but potent brew just might be your jam.

Bones Brewing is a Victoria area newcomer that doesn’t have its own location yet. But no matter; Liquid State is impressive for a contract beer, brewed up at Macaloney’s Victoria Caledonian (AKA Twa Dogs) Brewery.

Liquid State pours a deep, dark red, its brilliant colour reminiscent of a red wine with descriptors like burgundy, magenta and cranberry coming to mind. As with most sours, its minimal head dissipates quickly.

The beer throws a copious aroma for a sour, with notes of guava and passion fruit.

Liquid State delivers big raspberry flavour. The addition of lactose lends a touch of yoghurt, along with cinnamon and vanilla notes.

Super tart on the palate, but with more mouthfeel due to the substantial fruity body, it hides the alcohol very well.

Island brewers looking to outsource should take note; Twa Dogs is demonstrably a great facility to brew out of!
