VIB and Twin City Brewing Collab – Rainshadow Sour Review

We all love collaboration packs and so do breweries. What’s not to love, an opportunity to try a whole lot of different styles by a variety of breweries :-) Vancouver island Brewery has come out with a local island breweries collaboration pack but with a unique twist. They have cleverly used their orca “logo”, and have come out with a “pod” pack that ties four breweries along with a fundraiser to help our BC Orcas and wild BC salmon stocks, something that is very important to all of us living on the west coast.

The pod pack consists of 4 unique collaboration beers ,each named after one of the resident whales and the images on the box and cans are designed after the saddle patches ( or fingerprints of the whale) of that whale. Click on this link for more info! https://podpack.vibrewing.com/#section4

Rainshadow is a collaboration with Twin City Brewing in Port Alberni. The choice of beer for this collaboration is a Blackberry-Raspberry sour. It pours a very clear  rich cherry red in colour with a soft pink big bubbled head that quickly dissipates. There are no signs of hops, malt or yeast in this ale, it is all about the blend of blackberries and raspberries that take over the palate. There is just a hint of carbonation, and just like eating fresh picked berries this beer is very juicy yet very tart with a slight dry finish, and having you want more.
