Trench Brewing- The Fang IPA

Overview

Trench Brewing- The Fang IPA Review

You might never have been to the Fang Caves, though you might be inspired to after drinking the beer that is named after it. Prince George’s Trench Brewing, following their geographic naming scheme, have named their hazy NE style IPA after the famous caves found at Fang Mountain, Northeast of P.G. If you have any trouble finding it just look at the front of the can, where you will find the coordinates to guide your way. Before you head out though you better stop off at the brewery to quaff some of head brewer Paul Goncalves’ dynamic hazy game.

The Fang IPA is light orange and has opaque haziness with a strong, tight bubbled white head that lingers well and leaves great lacing. It has a light to light medium body with a solid level of bitterness.

On the nose there is Guava and other tropical fruitiness, including papaya, pome fruit and a tiny hint of graham cracker. The texture is creamy, likely due to the addition of oats. The Fang in no way gives the impression of heaviness.

The flavours are mild and crushable hoppiness, mirroring the aroma and is perfectly in balance with the bitterness that lingers in the strong finish. This beer forsakes some brash IPA boldness for a dangerous drinkability.
