Torchlight – Sakura Cherry Blossom Gose Review

PRESENTED BY LEGACY LIQUOR STORE
From the Summer 2019 edition of the What’s Brewing Tasting Panel

From Torchlight Brewing in Nelson BC comes the Sakura Cherry Blossom Gose. It’s nowhere near as tart or sour as some other Goses. It’s a subtle, fruity, easy drinking ale that might appeal to wine drinkers.

The appearance is a pale gold with a very slight haze. It has modest carbonation. Its head dissipates quickly, similar to many Goses. It has a slightly saline aroma, with light stone fruit (peaches etc) on the nose.

On the palate, The mouthfeel is quite thin. it’s slightly vinous, like a light, dry white wine. It’s not as lactic as other Goses. More importantly, it’s definitely refreshing.

The Sakura has a subtle flavour, including stone fruit (peaches, apricots, cherries) and a very slight salinity. There was a pleasantly sugary finish.

This beer is not as impressively flavourful as some others in the category, but then it’s not a true to style Gose. It comes across as a nice light ale.
