Parallel 49 Brewing: Earls Rhino Pale Ale

Overview

Parallel 49 Brewing: Earls Rhino Pale Ale Review

When you think about a white label restaurant beer, you picture something offered to accompany your meal during your weekend night out. You don’t normally think about a six-pack for enjoyment on the patio at home. However, if your night out is at an Earls Restaurant Group location, you can now take home one of their well-known Rhino-branded brews with (or without) your to-go box. Thanks to a partnership with Parallel 49 Brewing, Earls began offering six-packs to go on June 16th.

Parallel 49 Brewing : Earls Rhino Lager

Last round, we investigated their Rhino Lager, and we were pleasantly surprised. Is the Pale Ale just as palate-pleasing? Let’s dig in.

RHINO PALE ALE

Rhino Pale Ale pours a nice coppery colour with a substantial head and some lacing. It offers a fairly pleasant bouquet with a piney hop note. It’s meant to be a West Coast-style Pale, but the citrusy notes are fairly muted.

There’s a nice malty sweetness, with toffee and caramel notes. There is a bit of juiciness on the palate. We would consider the flavour to be a bit off the mark for a West Coast Pale, but the mouthfeel was enjoyable.

Overall, Rhino is an inoffensive, reasonably satisfying Pale Ale that will fit the bill for a great night with good food and good company. Find it at select Earls locations across British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba, where it will pair well with numerous flavourful dishes.

Pick up your beer to go, or buy a 6-pack (or two) after dining. Note that all guests who order online for pickup at Earls.ca will receive 15% off.
