Farm Country Brewing – Johnny SMASH: The Can In Black (Vol. 3) Review

From Langley, one of the hottest BC brewing districts of 2019, comes Farm Country Brewing, which recently celebrated its one year anniversary. Head Brewer Jack Bensley brought a solid brewing ethic to the fledgling outlet in late 2019.

The Farm Country beer menu is best known for its founding three core brands: Everyday Ale, Pilsner, and IPA. But don’t assume that its entire tap list is composed of such staples. Let’s sample one of the seasonal standout products from a year into their tenure.

Johnny SMASH is the entertaining and thematically-appropriate name of a series of Single Malt And Single Hop brews. The latest release, Volume 3, is a combination of Cashmere hops and Pilsner malt.

This well-carbonated golden ale beer pours with a fluffy white head and a slight haze, creating an appealing appearance.

On the nose, Volume 3 is a great-smelling beer, with floral and grapefruit notes from the hop.

On the palate, there’s juicy, biscuity malt and a hint of vanilla. The hop provides subtle piney and spicy notes.

Johnny SMASH Vol. 3 is such a nice beer, with an absolutely adorable aroma and flavour. If you can’t get your hands on this one, look out for other products from Langley’s Farm Country Brewing.
