Detonate Brewing – Sunday Funday Breakfast Stout

Overview

Detonate Brewing – Sunday Funday Breakfast Stout Review

Originally scheduled to make its home in Kelowna BC, Detonate Brewing in the end located in Summerland (between Kelowna and Penticton) and became Summerland’s first craft brewery opening in February of 2017.

When they first opened there was merely a wall separating the brewing from their tasting room, but due to popularity and an opportunity to expand, in 2019 they increased their hours and opened up a 28 seat tasting room with a “Beer to Go” fridge with 650ml bombers and cans.

The Sunday Funday stout pours a rich opaque black with a light tan/ brown thin foamy head that dissipates quickly. While the name implies that coffee should be the prominent flavour and aroma, the chocolate flavours and aromas popped out. There is a light malt sweetness giving it an almost cream like flavour. The coffee flavour is certainly there, and nicely complements the bitter yet milky chocolate, much like a mocha cappuccino. A perfect beer for breakfast or as an after dinner/dessert.
