DEAD FROG – PIÑA COLADA HAZY IPA REVIEW
Featured at Dead Frog’s Cinco De Mayo Fiesta this Sunday, May 5th!

Cinco De Mayo Fiesta

This moderately carbonated beer pours a golden colour with a respectable head and a slight haze. This brew is not as cloudy or pulpy as you might be accustomed to in a typical New England IPA.

The striking characteristic of this beer is its amazing aroma that perfectly mimics an actual piña colada! Pineapple, coconut creme and a seeming melange of fruit flavours (mango, papaya, strawberry) jump off the liquid’s surface and straight at your olfactory sensors.

The ‘tropical hops’ (Calypso, Denali and Zythos alongside Centennial) continue the theme, along with actual pineapple and coconut flavouring. Some may find the flavour a bit strong and sharp. Our sample was astringent on the palate with a vaguely medicinal flavour. But if you like the flavour of a piña colada, or tropical drinks in general, you have to try this one.
