Coast Mountain Brewing – Pink Boots Just Peachy Hazy Pale Ale

Overview

Coast Mountain Brewing – Pink Boots Just Peachy Hazy Pale Ale Review

Every year the Pink Boots Society and Yakima Chief Hops put their heads together to create a special Pink Boots Blend of hops. A portion of the sales from these hops goes back to the Society to help fund scholarships for women in the industry around the world. Once the brewery purchases the hops they create and brew whatever beer they want. For the third year in a row, Tanya Crocker of Coast Mountain Brewing hosted the breweries in the Whistler/Sea-to-Sky area. These included AFrame, Backcountry, Beer Farmers, and Howe Sound.

This year’s hop blend consisted of Loral, Azacca, El Dorado, and Idaho Gem, with a mixed aroma profile of citrus, tropical fruits, floral, grass, and wood. Tanya, head brewer at Coast Mountain decided to have some fun with her brew decision. With this year’s Pink Boots Brew “Just Peachy” instead of going with fruit puree, a common addition to many of the Pink Boots beers released this year, she went with a 25 kilo (60lbs) addition of peach gummy candies!!!

Just Peachy is a lightly hazy pale ale and at 4.5%, a very drinkable one. I really was not too sure how the peach sour gummies would work or complement the hops, but it works. The aroma is full-on peach candy with hints of citrus and pine. There is some tartness and sweetness from the candy, but neither take away from the flavour and aroma of the hop blend. A truly refreshing and fun beer to drink, especially in the summer months. It’s just too bad it is a very limited release.
