Cannery Brewing – Sunblink Berry Sour

Overview

Cannery Brewing – Sunblink Berry Sour Review

A true Okanagan product, Sunblink is a wheat kettle sour fermented with raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. Its stunning graphics, by Skyler Punnett, won gold in the Great Okanagan Beer Festival‘s Best Label contest, and bronze in Okanagan Fest Of Ale‘s. Now let’s pull the tab and find out what it’s like inside the can.

The beer poured with a respectable head and a slight haze. Pretty in pink, this visually attractive fruit beer scored highly for appearance thanks to its distinctive colour, like a pink grapefruit juice cocktail. There’s no question where they got the inspiration for the can artwork from.

On the nose, it delivers a strong, appealing aroma of raspberries with notes of watermelon and cherry. It is beautiful to look at and to smell.

Light and fruity on the palate, this beer has just the right amount of tartness. Not too acidic, this beverage is extremely crushable.

It so happens that both BeerSeekers are fruit beer fans, so there is a natural enthusiasm for this type of brew. BeerSeeker Ivana in particular insisted that Enjoyment was awarded the rare “I am leaving right now to get more” rating. However, we think it’s not just us, and that most drinkers will agree that Sunblink’s fruit flavour is delicious, making this item a “want more” crowd pleaser. It’s in the best tradition of fruity “gateway beers” that bring in those new craft drinkers that don’t like the “flavour of beer”.

We will be drinking more of this one this summer, so we hope Cannery made enough to last!
