Wild Ambition Brewing- Dew Point Farmhouse IPA (Mosaic)

Overview

Wild Ambition Brewing- Dew Point Farmhouse IPA (Mosaic) Review

Wild Ambition Brewing in Kelowna, BC, always seems to be having a lot of fun playing with different yeasts and bacteria to ferment their beer. Some of that wild experimentation can also be seen with hops, such as the Dew Point Farmhouse IPA. This IPA is what the brewery calls a hop rotator, as in the hops will change depending on the inspiration. The latest Dew Point features the widely used and rightly loved Mosaic hop. This is fermented with Saison yeast and “several strains of Brettanomyces”.

Dew Point is cloudy orange in colour with a huge off-white head. The aroma is a combination of savory pineapple, stewed tangerine, and the funkiness of the Brett. It is highly carbonated, light-bodied, and has that champagne-like tingling mouthfeel. The Brett funkiness continues into the flavour with some likable “barnyard” and “horse blanket” notes, well balanced by the citrus and tropical Mosaic hops. The bitterness is subdued while the Saison yeast likely helps make this beer quite dry. The finish is long, hoppy, and funky.

NOTE: Wild Ambition Brewing is temporarily closed and undergoing expansion. Their beer is however available at a few key locations across the province and also available online.
