Twin City Brewing-Swedish Gymnast Dry Hopped Blonde Ale

Overview

Twin City Brewing-Swedish Gymnast Dry Hopped Blonde Ale Review

Just west of the majestic old growth forest of Cathedral Grove on Vancouver Island lies Port Alberni. Port Alberni is a unique mix of small town feel with west coast attitude. Beer lovers will know it as the home of Twin City Brewing. Another example of a BC brewery with a very local focus, Twin City is well worth putting on your brewery bucket list. And once there, the very first beer you should try is their Swedish Gymnast.

Swedish Gymnast, a dry hopped Blonde ale, is a lesson in how to use Citra hops in a non-IPA setting. Pouring slightly cloudy yellow with lasting white head, the mango and cantaloupe aroma of Citra hops is noticeably present. Swedish Gymnast has big carbonation but with a light body, as appropriate to the style. The Citra comes through as a mild tropical fruitiness over top of clean malts. The Gymnast finishes the routine with a soft juiciness.
