Trench Brewing & Distilling – Pine Pass Pale Ale

Overview

Trench Brewing & Distilling – Pine Pass Pale Ale Review

When we think of Prince George in Northern BC we really do not think about it as a BC Craft beer destination, but with the opening of CrossRoads Brewing opening in 2017 and Trench Brewing in 2018, a craft trend started to emerge in Prince George. Now, In Northern BC, there are now craft breweries, a few tap houses, distilleries, and even a hop farm.

Brewmaster Paul Goncalves (originally from Howe Sound Brewing)and his team have created a great example of a west coast inspired hazy pale ale with the Pine Pass pale ale. The aroma has huge citrus, mostly grapefruit notes with just a hint of pine. It pours a light copper colour and is hazy, almost opaque in appearance. The white head is extra frothy and mousse-like, great for a photo opp! The taste is grapefruit juice/pith, not too tart, with just the right amount of bitterness, but is creamy to the mouthfeel and ends with a nice crispness. It’s extremely easy to drink, and I only wish I had picked up a second can as I really just wanted to drink more.
