Strathcona Brewing x JAK’s – Key Lime Kolsch Review

Collaboration beers are popular. Everyone loves to get into the act when there is an opportunity, even liquor stores! And why not? Private liquor stores especially have become a place where beer geeks like to work and also purchase their beers. The craft selections (especially tall cans) keep on increasing. So, why not get involved with a brewery and create some fun beers that are exclusive to the store. And as a bonus, if you are a larger chain like Jak’s Beer Wine Spirits, who now has  15 locations, you can spread the beer joy even more!

In the Spring of 2020, Jak’s and Strathcona Brewing released the Key Lime Kolsch. And, if you love key lime pie and are looking for a beer that is a perfect summer refresher, look no further. While it is hard to tell if the Wakatu hops addition, known for their lime features are doing their job, that along with the key lime juice certainly are. The malt base is merely a backbone to the intense lime flavour. This beer is light, limey, refreshing, and tart.  I can’t help but think that this beer would make for a great beer slushy or an addition to a beer cocktail. Beer Margaritas anyone?
