Red Arrow Brewing Co – Lion’s Mane Golden Ale

Overview

Red Arrow Brewing Co – Lion’s Mane Golden Ale Review

Red Arrow Brewing has teamed up with Purica, an “iconic health and wellness company” from the Cowichan Valley, to brew a golden ale with Lion’s Mane mushrooms added to the fermentation. Partial proceeds will be donated to the charity organization Purica Foundation.

The aroma of Lion’s Mane shows low level of earthy hops with a hint of nuts, honey kissed pale malts and a very faint umami note. It pours clear, light golden with a strong white head that lingers. This beer is unfiltered so expect some cloudiness towards the end of the bottle. Lion’s Mane is light bodied with fairly high carbonation. There a tiny bit of detectable viscosity, maybe provided by the mushrooms. This beer has a malt forward drinkability with a light honey note. There is slight bit of earthy hoppiness to balance. There is almost no bitterness until a little kick near the end. Whatever the mushrooms brings to the taste is very subtle beyond maybe some almond-like saviouriness.
