Neighbourhood Brewing – Way of Life Hazy IPA Review

Penticton is anxiously awaiting arrival of brewery # 7, yes 7 !!! It will be a brewery created  by the original Yellow Dog Brewing  founders and adding a few new friends into the mix. Their  vision for Neighbourhood is very similar to that of the family run Yellow Dog brewery, that puts a strong emphasis on  a quality product.

Darren Binnema, who has been the lead brewer at Yellow Dog since day one is the Head Brewer for Neighbourhood. Darren helped to create some award winning beers in year one, so it is no wonder everyone is waiting on this brewery to open. While waiting on permits and the building to be complete, Bad Tattoo Brewing, just down the street from where Neighbourhood is to open ,did the neighbourly thing , and offered Darren tank space as well as a share in the canning line so that Neighbourhood could get their product out. Right now they have a stellar line up with a solid packaging look  of four beers, with “Way of Life” being one of them.

As to be expected this ale is very hop forward bursting with tropical aromas of papaya and pineapple with a hint of mandarin orange. It pours a hazy golden amber colour with light carbonation, just enough to keep those hops from overwhelming the palate. It is light bodied and has a nice light creaminess to it.  A change in this beer,  unlike  many of the beers created by Darren is the use of the very popular Kveik yeast, which really accentuates the tropical notes of the hops. All in all a beer worth seeking out.
