Luppolo Brewing – Double Coat IPA

Overview

Luppolo Brewing – Double Coat IPA Review

I still remember the moment I met the two couples (Eleanor & Ryan, Anique & Fede) that at the time were in the planning stages of opening Luppolo Brewing. We were all heading to BC’s first Fresh Hop beer fest and they were telling us all of their opening and since then I have had the opportunity to have many of their beers!  This is the first canned version of one of their beers for me.

This 8% double IPA in Italian style is named “Double Coat” or Italian Wolf, but the flavour is all west coast! This is listed as a “can conditioned” with a blend of spelt, rye, wheat  and oats for the malt bill and Cascade, Chinook and Citra for the hops.

This medium bodied beer pours a hazy medium amber colour with a long lasting moussey head. The aroma and flavour is a juicy mixture of fruits;peaches, mangos ,pineapple and peach. There is a hint of alcohol , but, at 8% it is a very easy drinking and full flavoured hop forward and tasty beer. I look forward to trying future releases.
