Howe Sound Brewing – Super Jupiter Mango ISA Review

PRESENTED BY JAK’S BEER, WINE, SPIRITS
From the Fall  2020 edition of the What’s Brewing Tasting Panel

The Super Jupiter beer by Howe Sound Brewing has actually been around since 2013. There have been many changes since that day when it was originally brewed and released as a Grapefruit IPA. In 2015, while the fruit remained the same, there was a decision to reduce the alcohol and make it more sessionable and so it became an Indian Session Ale or ISA ( reviewed here in 2015,(https://beermebc.com/2015/10/03/howe-sound-brewing-co-super-jupiter-grape-fruit-isa/)

In 2018, the grapefruit was phased out and replaced with the tropical flavours and aroma of mango and it was a success! Sadly, the iconic big brown bottles are gone, but new this year is the Super Jupiter Mango ISA in tall cans! If you are one of those people that is not a big fan of fruit beers, this one might just change your mind! Yes, it is a tropical fruit forward ale for sure but there is a distinct hop bitterness and kick that will keep the hopheads ( like me) happy. The mango fruit blends in quite nicely with the tropical forward hops that provide us with aromas and tastes of pineapple and mango. The mouthfeel is creamy yet crispy with light carbonation and is very refreshing.

This is one of five beers reviewed and rated as part of the “Session” ales What’s Brewing Tasting Panel, and it was also the winner.
