Cannery Brewing – Ceres Hazy ISA Review

Every year around International Women’s Day (March 8th) women in the beer industry meet up at breweries around the world to brew beers that are either released on March 8th, or are brewed on or around that date.

There are two major brews that happen. One is the #IWDCB (International Womens Day Collaboration Brew), or the brew organized by Sophie de Ronde of Project Venus which sets a parameter for a basic beer style which can be augmented. The other is the Pink Boots Society‘s Pink Boots Brew, where the parameter is not the style but a unique blend of hops. The Pink Boots Blend involves five hops selected by members of the Society yearly and put together by YCH Hops Farm in Oregon. This year’s hops are Loral, Glacier, Sabro, Simcoe and Mosaic, creating a blend of floral, citrus, tropical and a light resiny bitterness.

The Pink Boots Brew choice by the ladies of Cannery Brewing was a hazy ISA–a great style to show off the hops! This ale pours a light, slightly hazy golden hue with a long lasting mousse-like head. With the first pour, there is a release of tropical and stone fruit aromas, peach, mango, and pineapple. There is a light bitterness that cuts the sweetness of the all the fruity hops making for a very drinkable and refreshing beer. And it is very easy to have more than one!
