BC Craft Beer Guild Collab – Class of 2014

BC Craft Beer Guild Collab – Class of 2014 Review

For the past few years brewery members of the BC Craft Brewers Guild gather together in honour of BC Craft Beer Month and brew a beer with partial funds going to a good cause. This year, like last, the proceeds will go to the BC Hospitality Foundation – an organization that provides emergency assistance to members of the hospitality industry in need.

Brewed at Yellow Dog Brewing this year, the brewers consisted of 12 breweries that opened their doors in 2014. Bad Tattoo Brewing,Barkerville Brewing Co.,Black Kettle Brewing Co.,Bomber Brewing,Category 12 Brewing, Dageraad Brewing, Main Street Brewing, Moody Ales,Sherwood Mountain Brewhouse Ltd.,Steel & Oak Brewing Co.,Strange Fellows Brewing, and Tree Brewing Institute. To keep everything BC and local, all the hops and grain are BC. And what better beer to brew but a true BC classic – a West Coast IPA!

This beer pours a clear, light copper colour with a thick and mousse like head that hangs on to the end. The aroma is hop forward with hints of grass, citrus and green tea. The taste is a wonderful blend of bitterness and resinous from those BC hops and some sweet caramel from the BC malts. It certainly does not taste like a 7.1% abv and 70 ibu beer! The end result is a very balanced and refreshing beer that truly lets you appreciate what BC has to offer.
