A-Frame Brewing Co. – Skull Lake Imperial Espresso Stout

Overview

A-Frame Brewing Co. – Skull Lake Imperial Espresso Stout Review

Situated in beautiful Squamish, BC, with a tasting room done up like a cabin, and every beer named after a BC lake, A-Frame Brewing is heavy on the #cabinvibes. One seasonal beer, the Skull Lake Imperial Stout, was this time around brewed with organic espresso beans from Counterpart Coffee.

The Skull Lake is opaque black with a medium tan head. There is an expressive espresso nose with notes of black forest cake, marshmallow, and a hint of raisin. It is full-bodied, has medium carbonation, and pronounced roast bitterness. Tasting Skull Lake shows the prominent espresso flavors joined by notes of chocolate, cherry, and roasted dark fruit. With such a big roasted bitterness there is little perceived sweetness. The bitterness somewhat retreats for the long finish.

Only available from the tasting room for a limited time.
