Today, Old Yale Brewing released their newest experimental brew, the Chilliwack Sunflower Saison; A truly one-of-a-kind beer that perfectly celebrates the sunniest of seasons with the beauty of fresh air, mountain views and towering Sunflowers that the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival has to offer.
“The Chilliwack Sunflower Festival held just down the road from Old Yale has become such an incredible part of our community since its inception last year. Our staff (and their families) enjoyed attending it so much that we decided to release a beer as a celebration of the beautiful Sunflowers we’re so lucky to have in Chilliwack.” – stated Zach Van Leeuwen, General Manager, Old Yale Brewing.
Hand-crafted with malted Sunflower seeds, our Saison is a celebration of the beautiful fields at the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival! An earthy, herbal and grassy character compliments the rustic and subtly spicy flavour from the Belgian Saison yeast.
ABV: 5.5%
Hops: Magnum, Hersbrucker, Saaz
Malt: Pilsen, Wheat, Vienna
“This small batch Saison is delicate, spicy and floral. Using malted Sunflower seeds and a classic Belgian Saison yeast strain helps elevate this limited release into unchartered territory. Light and refreshing, with a crisp yet flavourful finish. A celebration of the Summer season, and the bountiful (and beautiful) crops products in Chilliwack, BC.” – said Brewmaster, Nick Fengler.
