Four Winds Brewing Releases Pomona 2019 Wood-Aged Stone-Fruit Sour

SYNOPSIS: A tart Farmhouse Ale with a complex aroma and a dry, tannic mouthfeel.

TASTING NOTES: Notes of spice with an aroma not all that different from a cigar box.

FOOD PAIRINGS: White anchovies, grilled chicken hearts, olives, mussels, calamari, ham croquettes, cured meats, spicy potato omelette.

BREWER’S NOTES: We age this beer in 2 x 4000L French oak foeders with 4000lbs of squished nectarines and apricots. The pit of the apricot gives the beer a subtle bitter almond flavour that plays nicely alongside the sharp acidity and bright fruit.

We are proud to have always sourced the fruit for this beer through the amazing Parsons fruit stand on Highway 3 in Keremeos. Every year the final product very much depends on the fruit from the previous season and is usually ready when apricots and nectarines are ripe. This is the 3rd vintage of Pomona and it’s a great vintage!
