Cannery Brewing Ceres Mango Milkshake IPA Launch

Celebrating Women with Cannery Brewing

Penticton, BC. In celebration of International Women’s Day on Sunday, March 8th, Penticton’s Cannery Brewing celebrated women with the launch of a special beer made by the women on their team.

The beer is a Mango Milkshake IPA and the name of the beer is Ceres. Ceres was the Roman Goddess of agriculture, grain crops, fertility, and motherly relationships.

Patt Dyck, co-owner of Cannery Brewing explained, “A few weeks ago, we had a brew day at the brewery where the women who work at Cannery Brewing had an opportunity to collaborate and work together to brew this beer. It’s a unique opportunity for the women who work in non-brewing roles to have the experience of brewing beer.”

This limited release beer is a fundraiser beer, where a portion of the proceeds will go to the Pink Boots Society, which promotes and aids women in the beer industry through education.

Patt continued, “We thought we would launch this beer made by the women on our team on International Women’s Day. It is a celebration of women and is a way to help raise funds and awareness for women professionals in our industry.”

The beer is a double dry-hopped, double IPA (DDH-DIPA). It was brewed with oats, wheat, vanilla, and milk sugar, and then fermented with mango. It was hopped with the 2020 Pink Boots Blend. Each year, Yakima Chief Hops creates a special hop blend for Pink Boots fundraiser beers that are brewed at breweries across North America. The 2020 Pink Boots Blend consists of Azacca, El Dorado, Idaho Gem and Loral.

Additional sponsors for this beer included Penticton-based Skyler Punnett Creative and Super Deluxe Creative who designed the labels, and Westkey Graphics/Xibita who printed the labels.

Cannery Brewing’s Ceres Mango Milkshake IPA was launched on March 8th on International Women’s Day on tap and in 4-packs of 473ml cans in Cannery Brewing’s taproom. It will also be available at select private craft beer focused liquor stores in BC in the days ahead.
