Prairie Baard CanDeLaet will be in Saskatoon on May 25th and Calgary on May 26th to officially launch the beer; Prairie Baard will hit two key SLGA locations this week in time to kick off the May long weekend

Saskatoon, SK (May 19, 2016) – PGA TOUR golfer Graham DeLaet and award-winning craft brewery Bomber Brewing announced today the launch of a new craft beer, Prairie Baard – Blue Collar Craft. The Prairie Baard brand is rooted in a hard-working, blue collar attitude, while also embracing the freedom to create your own identity, and live life on your own terms.

The Golden Ale uses the finest local ingredients to produce an easy drinking, premium tasting beer. As a nod to DeLaet’s home province, malted barley and wheat from Saskatchewan give the beer a crisp and refreshing drinkability, while hops from the Pacific Northwest impart a pleasing pine and citrus aroma.

Over the upcoming weeks, the beer will be available in SLGA locations across Saskatchewan and in the top liquor distributors throughout Alberta – including Sobeys, Safeway, Co-op, and Liquor Depot, with plans to expand its footprint coast to coast across Canada in the near future.

For the launch and just in time to kick off the May long weekend, Prairie Baard will hit shelves at two key SLGA locations this week – SLGA University Heights in Saskatoon and SLGA South Albert in Regina.

To officially launch Prairie Baard, DeLaet will be touring two locations to host kick-off events, where consumers can enjoy Prairie Baard tastings and meet Graham DeLaet and the team behind the beer:

Wednesday, May 25th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM SLGA University Heights – 503 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, SK

Thursday, May 26th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM Sobeys Royal Oak – 8888 Country Hills Blvd NW, Calgary, AB

DeLaet, born and raised in rural Saskatchewan, has a passion for all things Canadian – including hockey, fishing, golf and of course, beer. In collaboration with Bomber Brewing, the concept of Prairie Baard was designed by DeLaet with these passions in mind while building the concept of the beer from the ground up. Throughout the creation process, DeLaet inserted his personal tasting notes into the development of the recipe with Bomber.

“Growing up in the prairies – drinking a good beer at the end of a long day was part of our culture,” said DeLaet. “Working with our team on building a craft beer business has been a great experience. From the recipe to the overall Prairie Baard brand, I wanted to create something that was true to my roots, and reflected the values of hard working Canadians everywhere. Prairie Baard is not only a great tasting beer, but it is something that people will be proud to hold in their hand.”

In order to craft the perfect Golden Ale blend, it was important to partner with a brewery that shared DeLaet’s vision of creating a product better than the everyday beer. Bomber Brewing is an expert in the craft beer space and a winner of multiple awards for its products. Bomber’s shared vision with DeLaet includes a creation that is balanced and approachable.

“Born from a shared love of sport, beer and hard work, our partnership with Graham has been quite organic and extremely gratifying,” said Don Farion, Managing Partner of Bomber Brewing. “From our first meeting I knew we spoke the same language; that of passion, quality and that hard-working, blue collar mentality.”

DeLaet and Bomber Brewing have partnered with the distribution company, Horizon Beers, to support the beer on the distribution side as it rolls out across Canada.
Prairie Baard’s Golden Ale is brewed with 70% Saskatchewan Barley and 30% Saskatchewan wheat both of which are malted in Biggar, SK. Unlike most hazy, cloudy wheat beers, Prairie Baard is filtered to crystal clarity and generously hopped at the very end of the brew to give it a wonderful aroma without imparting a strong bitterness. The wheat gives the beer a tart crisp finish, as well as adding some bright biscuit and cracker like aromas. The hops used are called Falconer’s Flight – Seven Seas. Seven Seas refers to it being a blend of seven different “C” hops; Cascade, Columbus, Centennial, Citra, Chinook, Comet and Crystal. These hop brings strong and citrus aromas to this already refreshing ale.
