Beer Lovers Gathering in Penticton for Home Brewing Competition

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Home Brewers Competing in CAMRA South Okanagan Event this Saturday, November 10th

Penticton, BC. The craft beer movement is growing at an unprecedented rate in Penticton, the South Okanagan, throughout BC and beyond. As enjoyment of craft beer increases, and as the number of craft beers and breweries continues to increase, we are also seeing an increase in the number of home brewers taking a turn crafting their own beers. On Saturday, November 10th, a number of local home brewers will be showcasing their best home brewed beers in the 3rd annual CAMRA SO Home Brewing Competition from 1-4pm at Tin Whistle Brewing.

Kim Lawton, President of CAMRA SO explained, “More than 10 home brewers are making their very best beers for guests to try. Guests at the event will have the opportunity to try these home brewed beers, cast their votes for their favourites, and give some feedback to the home brewers. The top 3 home brewers will get bragging rights and prizes sponsored by Trellis and Vine Crafthouse and the BC Ale Trail.”

In addition, there will be a panel of brewery judges who will award the Judges’ Choice Award. The winner of this coveted award will have the opportunity to brew a commercial batch of their winning beer with Tin Whistle Brewing.

Eike Hinz, Director of Education and Home Brewers Liaison for CAMRA SO commented, “In addition to learning more about home brewing, guests will have the opportunity to watch the brewing process as Tin Whistle Brewing’s Brewmaster Matt will be brewing an experimental beer during the event. This will be a great chance to see the brewing process in action and to ask questions about brewing beer. Tin Whistle will also be offering tours of their brewery during the event.”

There is no charge to attend and no charge to try the beer although guests must be legal drinking age and they must pre-register for a ticket on EventBrite. CAMRA SO will be collecting donations onsite to help cover event costs. The Nest and Nectar will have their famous poutine bar at the event. Guests are asked to pre-purchase their food ticket on EventBrite when they register for their event tickets.

The event will be held at Tin Whistle Brewing, located in the Cannery Trade Centre at 1475 Fairview Road in Penticton from 1-4pm on Saturday, November 10th.
