Barkerville Brewing’s Promise to Sophia Valentines Ale Returns for 2016

Barkerville Brewing Promise To Sophia ReturnsQUESNEL, BRITISH COLUMBIA (01/06/2016) – Barkerville Brewing Co. celebrates Valentine’s Day by bringing back their immensely popular “winter warmer” style ale. Available throughout BC in 650 ml bottles and on tap at select craft beer bars, Promise to Sophia is a slightly sweet 6.9% alc./vol. and 31 IBU milk stout flavoured with vanilla and anise.

More romantic (and tastier) than ever, Promise to Sophia pays homage to the tragic yet romantic tale of Sophia Cameron and her husband’s pledge to ensure she was buried at home in Ontario should she fall victim to the hardships of the Cariboo gold rush:

John Angus “Cariboo” Cameron was crafty in business, but not so lucky in love. Shattered by the death of his beloved wife, he vowed to carry out Sophia’s last wish: to be buried at home in Ontario. Three caskets, two burials, and four funerals later, John made good on his promise.

Originally released in January of 2015, Promise to Sophia was an experiment to capitalize on the popularity of beer as a valentine’s present. “We wanted to do something a little more romantic than a growler, and in a package designed to delight,” explains Justine Pelletier, General Manager.

Particularly suitable for cellaring, this year’s edition features the new label design. Pick one up today at a private liquor store near you.
