Stanley Park’s Sapling Series is sprouting new beers including their Midnight Black IPA. This beer comes in 650ml bottles and measures at 65 IBUs and 7% alcohol. Pouring this beer it is dark black in colour with two fingers of dark and lacing head. The aroma is hoppy with notes of pine along side a roasty, chocolate and coffee character that adds to the hop tones. Tasting the beer it starts off fresh and leads into a rich coffee and cocoa character that is quite nice. The hop bitterness builds along side the cocoa notes towards the finish leaving a dry and bitter finish to the brew. The Midnight Black IPA is dark, rich and a rather enjoyable winter take on the IPA.
