Stanley Park Brewery - Fresh Hop Red IPA Review Stanley Park Brewing – Fresh Hop Red IPA Review

Stanley Park Brewing has started up a small batch series of beers called the Sapling Series. In this line of crafty beers comes the Fresh Hop Red IPA. Brewed with local Cascade & Chinook hops this beer is a dark, chestnut colour with two fingers of lacing head. The aroma is toasted with a toffee character along side the pine, grass and earthy hop character. From the nose the beer smells quite nice but would be difficult to predict as being fresh hopped. Tasting the beer there is a rich, toasted and malty undertone that builds a woody bitterness. This hearty base masks some of the fresh hop character and gives a warming sensation in the gut. This is not your typical fresh hopped IPA with its big roasted character that can hide some of the more subtle, grassy fresh hop flavours.
