Moon Under Water Copper Kettle Sour Ale Review Moon Under Water Brewery – Copper Kettle Sour Review

Victoria’s Moon Under Water Brewery has released a beer called the Copper Kettle Sour. Intricately labelled, this beer pours from the label sealed bomber bottle a colour of gold and has a finger or so of lightly lacing head. The beer has a distinct tartness to it along side a mild sweetness and almost oaky character. For a kettle sour the aroma is surprisingly complex with a blend of sour character, malt notes and a mellow yet funky sweetness. Tasting the beer it has an initial tartness but mellows out into a malty and smooth beer. There is almost a Belgian Triple like sweetness that comes with the sour notes. The sour character is uncharacteristically mellow and hence leaves a heavy malt flavour to take charge. This beer is quite unique and for those that enjoy a big, malt-forward beer the Copper Kettle Sour adds a light, sour twist to the style.
