Love Shack Libations RPA Review Love Shack Libations – Rachel Pale Ale (RPA) Review

Love Shack Libations is a little known brewery in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island. As a glorified home-brew setup this beer doesn’t make it outside of the small brewery and tasting room. If you manage to swing by the brewery in their limited operating hours one of the beers that you may find pouring is the RPA, or Rachel Paul Ale. This beer is sold at the brewery in 500ml bottles and pours from said bottle a clear, golden colour with 3+ fingers of lightly lacing head. As a bottle conditioned beer the level of head may show a bit more than expected fermentation. The aroma is balanced with piney hop character, rye spice and a nice malty base. Tasting the beer it is smooth and balanced with a hop forward but not overpowering bite. A citrus-orange character balances the Rye Spice in an intense yet refreshing manner. There is a slight oxidation flavour to the beer which is likely a result of hand bottling and a relatively low sophistication at the brewery. Not a game breaker but definetly not a beer to age here. Fresh is best! All in all a very enjoyable Rye-Pale Ale from Love Shack Libations.
