4 Mile Brewing Co. – East Coast IPA Review
4 Mile Brewing has jumped into the new-age IPA world with an East Coast styled IPA. Simply called the East Coast IPA this beer is part of the Experimental Series of limited release beers. From a bomber bottle this beer pours a very hazy yellow-gold colour with two thick fingers of head. The head leaves light lacing on the sides of the glass and the lack of clarity hints that something may have been added to the beer for clarity and mouthfeel. The aroma is all tropical fruit with orange, grapefruit, mango and passion fruit coming through strong on the nose. Tasting the beer it has low bitterness for an IPA but makes up for it with hop character. The tropical fruit tones hit the palate hard and lead into a grapefruit like bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is light and while the clarity may say milkshake IPA, the mouthfeel doesn’t agree. This is a new-age IPA with nice hop character and is a relatively easy drinking IPA.
