Howe Sound Brewing Wee Beastie Scotch Ale Review Howe Sound Brewing Co. – Wee Beastie Scotch Ale Review

The Wee Beastie is a beer that has been in the Howe Sound Brewing lineup for some time. This beer used to be released as an oak aged beer but in recent years has dropped the aging process. Since the beer is different, we thought it time to follow up with a new review. Pouring the beer it is a deep, copper brown colour and has one finger of head that leaves no signs of lacing behind on the glass. The aroma is rich with peated malt, smoke aroma along with caramel and toffee character. Sipping the beer it has a distinct sweetness that is rich with caramel and those same toffee flavours from the nose. The smoke character also comes through with a decent intensity. The smoke does not overpower the beer but does balance out the sweetness of the beer. This is a fairly classic Scotch Ale and is well brewed. If you are a fan of peated malt, this is a beer that is not to miss.
