Coal Harbour 5th Anniversary Barrel Aged Doppelbock Review Coal Harbour Brewing Co. – 5th Year Anniversary Oaked Doppelbock

To celebrate 5 years of brewing craft beer the Coal Harbour Brewing Company has released an Oaked Doppelbock that comes in bomber bottles and is a strong, 8.5% alcohol. Pouring from this wax dipped bottle the beer is very dark being nearly black in colour. With a single finger’s worth of head the beer gives off an aroma of  vanilla, oak and chocolate in a rich and creamy fashion. Similarly the flavour is rich with vanilla and oak in a creamy and smooth beer. This is about as strong as a lagered beer can get by standard brewing techniques and the result is a very smooth and rich beer. Coal Harbour has stepped outside tradition on this brew and it came out very nice. This is a big beer that is worth trying and possibly aging in the cellar.

Alcohol – 8.5%
Size – 650ml

Sounds like a winner in my book. I will have to look and see if I can find a bottle.
