How the Breweries Stack Up
1st Place – Steamworks Brewery (22 points)
Best in Show
2 Gold
2 Bronze
Steamworks Brewery cleaned up thanks to their new Flagship IPA. Taking a gold medal and Best In Show for 15 points clinched the top spot for the Burnaby based brewery. Most notable about this win though is the fact that Steamworks has won Best in Show in three of the seven BC Beer Awards events to date. That is an impressive feat.
2nd Place – Dageraad Brewing (19 Points)
3 Gold
1 Silver
1 Bronze
Also an impressive run for Burnaby’s Dageraad Brewing. 3 gold medals tied Dageraad for top spot in 1st place finishes. Specializing in bottle conditioned, Belgian style beers it is clear that they are onto something good here.
3rd Place – Nelson Brewing Co. (18 Points)
3 Gold
1 Silver
Nelson Brewing’s 3rd place spot is possibly the biggest surprise in the mix. With three gold medals Nelson is clawing back at the BC market with classic recipes that have been in their core lineup.
4th Place – Central City Brewers & Distillers (16 Points)
2 Gold
1 Silver
3 Bronze
Central City took home awards for their well known Thor’s Hammer and Pilsner. They also have a few mystery seasonals that won awards giving them 4th place overall.

No mention of Pablo Esco Gnar? 😉
Our scoring system is slightly different, we give double the points to any award winners that are organic. This means that Nelson Brewing Company got an impressive 36 points, and is the best craft brewery in BC. Some pictures of our guys accepting the awards would be justified!
