Spinnakers Brewing Cascadia Dark Ale Review Spinnakers Brewery – Cascadia Dark Ale Review

Spinnakers Brewery has brewed up one of BC’s favourite craft beer styles, the Cascadian Dark Ale, or CDA. This big and hoppy, northwest style beer pours from the bottle as a very dark chestnut colour with a finger and a half of lacing head. The aroma is fairly big on the malt tones with a toasty caramel aroma that joins a fairly big hop profile. By CDA standards this beer is lighter coloured and less hoppy smelling than you may expect. The body is fairly light with a bubbly mouth-feel that builds into a big flavour profile. The malt tones are big with a toasted flavour that is of caramel, toffee, and a light burnt tone. The burnt bitterness pairs with a hoppy back to give a citrus, pine and rather bitter finish. This beer is unique but true to Spinnakers’ style, a truly BC beer that clings to English roots.
