Ridge Brewing Ay Caramba! Jalapeno IPARidge Brewing Company – Ay Caramba! Jalapeño IPA Review

Ridge Brewing Company from Maple Ridge, BC turns up the heat with their Ay Caramba! Jalapeño IPA.  The beer pours from the bomber bottle a cloudy, dark amber colour with one finger of off-white head that dissipates almost immediately.  The beer gives off an intense aroma of freshly chopped green peppers, jalapeño, spicy heat, floral hop tones, and a very subtle caramel note.  The taste is immediately of biting into a fresh green pepper that is replaced quickly by jalapeño spice.  Subtle malt and hop undertones follow the initial freshness and spiciness.  The finish offers a building heat on the tongue and lips that may overwhelm those who are not accustomed to spicy foods.  This beer is unique having had jalapeño peppers added to both the boil and fermentation, and offers both the lingering spicy notes and the freshness of the pepper itself.  Ay Caramba, that’s one spicy beer!
