In their non-descript beer labeling comes the Doan’s Brewing Altbier. This German styled Pale Ale pours from the bomber bottle as a dark amber-copper colour with a single finger of very dense and lacing head. From the beer comes a thick aroma of German malt tones, caramel and earthiness along with a slight hop bitterness. The flavour in this beer is big on the malt tones but remains fairly light bodied. Traditional German style malt tones are matched with a light toasted sweetness and subtle hop tones. The Doan’s Altbier is fairly traditional by German standards but offers a fairly unique take on the Pale Ale style if looked at by a British Columbia frame of view
