Victoria Beer Week 2016 – Beer Pizza and More Beer at Pizzeria Prima Strada
Victoria Beer Week puts together another winner, pairing outstanding BC beers with excellent wood oven pizza.
Monday March 7th was the fourth day of Victoria Beer Week 2016 and the evening began in the tastiest fashion possibly with a pizza and beer pairing. An already exquisite combination was made even better with fresh, wood oven baked pizzas by Pizzeria Prima Strada and beers from Townsite Brewing, Driftwood Brewing, Yellow Dog Brewing, and Category 12 Brewing.
Pizzeria chefs created inspired pizzas to accompany and compliment each beer that was presented. Guests were treated to four different pairings, leaving suitably sated with their thirst quenched.
The beers spanned a range of styles and flavours and included Townsite Charleston Belgian Tripel, Driftwood Crooked Coast Altbier, Yellow Dog Sit and Stay IPA, and Category 12’s Keating Collaboration Espresso Cocoa Nib Stout.
Each beer was paired with a unique pizza, created to compliment and showcase the different flavours present in the beer. Prima Strada chefs were up to the task of developing special pizzas for the event that included Roasted Vegetable Hash, Spicy Braised Pulled Pork, Bacon and Brussel Sprouts, and Molé Smoked Beef Brisket.
Tables were served quickly and efficiently, there being enough time to finish a quarter pizza and beer taster before the next pairing was announced. There were two sold-out seatings for the event showing that pizza and beer are indeed a popular combination that organizers would be wise to include for next year’s event as well.
With a great year-round tap list, be sure to visit Pizzeria Prima Strada to create your own pizza and beer pairing until Victoria Beer Week 2017 rolls around.
