Off The Rail Smoked Porter Review Off The Rail Brewing Co. – Olde Winston Smoked Porter Review

East Vancouver’s Off The Rail Brewing Company has entered the Smoked Porter market with their Olde Winston. This beer comes to BC as the autumn leaves hit the streets of Vancouver and just in time for the evening bite of fall. Pouring the beer from the bomber bottle the Olde Winston appears close to black in colour with nearly two fingers of head. A blend of wood smoke and toasted malt come through on the nose with the slightest of coffee and chocolate tones. The body is reasonably light and relatively smooth with a sharp smokiness to it. As far as Smoked Porters go this is bigger on the smoke than most which masks much of the other flavours. A light roasted malt tone sneaks through but fades into insignificance with the alder wood-flavoured smoke taking charge. If you like smoke, this is a beer for you!
