Tree Brewing has added a new face to their Raw Series of unfiltered beers. This Belgian Dubbel is available in 6-packs of 355ml bottles. From the single-serve portion the beer pours into the glass as a very dark, cloudy brown colour topped with one finger of head that settles quickly and without a trace. The aroma coming from this beer is lightly sweet with notes of prune, raisin and a light clove spice. For a Dubbel the aroma is on-message but a bit lighter than you may expect. Tasting the beer, the body is fairly light with a low carbonation to it. The flavour starts with the deepness of plum while a bitter-sweetness grows in the background. The clove tones come through along with a mild hop bitterness and dried fruit-like sweetness. The Tree Brewing Dubbel is lighter bodied than many Dubbels and has a bit more bitterness on the finish than some similar beers. It is a nice twist from Tree’s traditional beers and offers a twist for the cooler months ahead.
