Old Yale Brewing Co. – West Coast IPA Review
Replacing the Sergeant’s IPA is the West Coast IPA from Old Yale Brewing Company which will surely add a kick of northwest style hops into the mix. This beer that is labeled as “Bold, hoppy goodness” pours from the fancifully BC labeled bottle as a crisp, golden colour topped with a single finger of lacing head. From the beer comes a piney, citrus aroma with a touch of tropical mango. Coming from Citra and Galaxy Hops this beer has just the aroma that BC craft beer fanatics are after. The beer has a nice body to it and the flavour has a defined malt characteristic despite the aromatic hop notes. Citrus flavours along side a defined hop bitterness grow as the flavour progresses. Subdued compared to the aroma this is a well hopped, flavourful beer with a kick of west-coast flavour and hop bitterness.
