Vancouver Island Brewery has released the Mile High Mountain Ale as a ‘hop-infused, northwest style Red Ale” This new beer from Victoria BC pours from the 650ml bottle as a light, amber colour topped with two thick fingers of head which settles without a trace. The smell of this beer is lightly sweet and malt forward with a slight hop kick. Rather mellow for a red ale from the smell this beer appears to be on the light side of the style. the flavour is also rather light. Debatedly more of an amber ale this beer has a malty body and a rising of piney hops at the finish. Malt tones are the main stage here though as the Mile High is a fairly mild and sessionable brew.
