R&B Brewing Spirit Chaser Sumatra Coffee Porter R&B Brewing Co. – Spirit Chaser Sumatra Coffee Porter Review

In conjunction with Salt Spring Coffee the R&B Brewing Company has brewed up the Spirit Chaser, a Sumatra Coffee Porter. This coffee fanatik inspired beer is a collaboration between two passions, coffee and beer. The Spirit Chaser pours into the glass a very dark, espresso brown colour with two fingers of head which leaves light lacing on the glass. From this beer comes a strong but smooth coffee scent with a toasted malt back to the aroma. For having such an intense coffee ester the beer comes out rather smooth on the nose. The flavour is fairly light from the start building slowly with a big Brown Ale, light Porter body and a growing coffee flavour as it progresses. Rather thin for the Porter style a lightness proliferates but as the coffee tones build the body comes to term. The coffee here is not over the top but simply a delightful addition to a fairly light bodied porter. A beautiful blend of flavours in a rather drinkable and enjoyable package.
