The Nelson Brewing Company is fully organic and that includes the ginger in their Ginger Beer. This beer sells in 6 packs of 355ml cans and from one of those cans it pours a deep, golden coloured ale with a thin finger of head topping the glass. The aroma is strong with ginger which tickles the throat even smelling it. There is a mild sweetness and floral note however from the lemongrass content and a malty tone from the lager base. The flavour kicks off with a hit of Ginger but not to the extent that you may have guessed from the scent. The ginger flavour is up front before the lemongrass flavour builds and knocks the ginger down a few pegs. The lemograss is joined by a light and enjoyable malted note and a fairly neutral finish. The Nelson Organic Ginger Beer is one of the most balanced beers on the market and makes for a great ginger beer without taking it too far and taking the beer out of ginger beer.
