Canuck Empire Brewing – Coast Trail Pale Ale Review
Recently opening in Aldergrove BC Canuck Empire has joined the roster of BC craft breweries. This new BC brewery has kicked off their brewing lineup with the Coast Trail Pale Ale. This beer comes in bomber, 650ml bottles and is available at select craft beer retailers. This beer appears a crisp, clear amber/copper colour and is topped by a very thin head. With far less than a finger topping the glass under-carbonation is suspected. The aroma is hopped with Cascade and Chinook hops along side a deep caramel aroma. A slight metallic scent also comes through on the nose. The flavour is also big with Cascadian style hops and a caramel sweetness. The bitter-sweet give great balance while the sweetness fades near the end leaving a strong bitterness on the palate. This beer is on the bitter side of things for a Pale ale and comes across with quite low carbonation. It is rather nice though and is a great first brew from the team at Canuck Empire Brewing LTD.
