Tin Whistle Brewing Co. – Chocolate Cherry Porter Review

Pentincton BC’s Tin Whistle Brewing Company has come out with another Okanagan fruit inspired beer. This one comes in in the form of a Chocolate Cherry Porter. This fruit inspired porter is close to black in colour and pours with a single finger of head. The head settles quite quickly and leaves the glass clean with no signs of lacing left behind. The aroma coming off this beer is a combination of toasted malts, bittersweet chocolate and cherries. The aroma is not over the top but remains unique and differentiated with the slight chocolate covered cherry similarities. The flavour is more porter than cherry with a nice toasted malt kicking off the flavours in a relatively light package. The chocolate tones come up next leading into a slight cherry flavour in the mid-section. The overall experience is more like picking off and eating the chocolate around a cherry rather than the whole thing. There is a  slight infusion but this is more of a chocolate porter than anything else. The final note is a dry chocolate finish with a slight hop to boot. This beer is a decent chocolate porter with the added flavour of a cherry infusion.  Bon appetite!
