Russell Brewing Co. – Smokey The Beer Rauchbier Review
Part of the Russell Brewing Company’s Specialty Series of beers comes Smokey The Beer, a Bamberg-Style Marzen Rauchbier. This rare-to-BC style is a deep copper-brown colour which pours topped with two fingers of thick and lacing head. The smell is of wood smoke and oak along side beechwood and toasted malts. There is little sign of sweetness or bitterness in the aroma. The flavour has a brief glimpse of toasted malt at the beginning before building into a big, wood smoke body. There is an oakiness to the flavour despite being made with beechwood which is slightly lighter. This Rauchbier remains light and crisp while having a very big smoke factor. Smoke is not for everyone but if you are into sharing a bottle with a friend and trying something unique and rather tasty, Smokey The Beer is a great option to warm your senses.

Better you than me. Not a fan of smoke in my beer sadly.
