Longwood Brewery - Full Patch Pumpkin Ale Review

Longwood Brewing Co. – Full Patch Pumpkin Ale Review

Longwood Brewery has truly upped their game since separating the packaged beer from the Nanaimo based Brewpub. Following their new canned lineup the Full Patch is a Pumpkin Ale coming in a black painted bomber bottle. This beer is a deep nut-brown colour that pours with two fingers of fine, lacing head. The scent is smooth with creamy notes of nutmeg, allspice and of course toasted pumpkin. A creamy, toasted malt completes the package with minimal alcohol tones despite the 9% ABV. The flavour is smooth, yet intense. A creamy texture hits the tongue first with spiced notes of nutmeg and allspice. This builds into a slightly boozy centre along side a fairly sweet toasted pumpkin flavour. As the flavour progresses the alcohol tones build but don’t go way over the top. The creamy texture continues and keeps the sweetness and pumpkin notes in check. This is a strong ale that has pumpkin up front but still offers something big, bold and unique. Yet another great beer to come from Nanaimo’s Longwood Brewery.
